L5P Biz Assoc-Open Board Minutes 6-19-2019
Meeting called to order-3pm
Discussion on ways to increase general membership dues
How can biz assoc make becoming a member enticing?
How can we show transparency in regards to where funding is allocated?
What leverage does the biz assoc have to make changes including beautification, city works related issues?
Will we develop a business association member sticker or flyer for businesses to place in their windows?
Will we create a “welcome wagon” committee to visit with individual businesses in person?
Officer T. Gissler dropped into meeting for an informal check-in
Advises anyone who calls 911 to leave their name or else their concern is pushed further down in the queue
Asks for philosophical direction in regards to approaching certain vendors in the neighborhood and not others depending on their relationship with specific L5P business owners
Informs that the closing of the city jail has been causing issues in regards to the types of crimes/criminals officers will arrest
Criminal trespassing complaints can be made electronically and are necessary for APD to have a record of repeat offenders
How does the biz assoc feel about the APD van being parked in the neighborhood?
Ed Rucker is set to present on behalf of Skinny’s Hot Chicken at the July general member meeting
The biz assoc has secured a lawyer in preparation for any potential legal disputes
The business association has not voted to become a member of the L5P Alliance at this time
The Starbucks on Moreland Ave is now reopen
